Argonaut Freight Forwarding are based in Sheffield and provide an effective and efficient export and import service by air, sea and road to companies who trade internationally. The substantial site in the Don Valley includes a warehouse and specialist freight handling equipment to enable consolidation and redistribution of container loads. The company have a personal service that extends from door-to-door through a named contact in the company who takes care of every aspect from quotation to delivery.
By 2002 the company had grown significantly and had reached the stage where its existing manual and semi-automated processes were proving to be a drawback to further growth. The company attended a local exhibition in October and saw a brief demonstration of our OpenRoad Traffic Management System. Argonaut invited Soltec to give a detailed demonstration and carry out an appraisal of the business to identify how OpenRoad could be used to best advantage in a freight forwarding operation.
As a result of further meetings we developed a few minor enhancements and installed the system on the basis of a no-obligation trial in November. Argonaut were able to ensure that it met their needs fully before committing to purchase. Training, data set up and changeover to the new system was achieved successfully in early December 2002.
Since then the company have installed OpenRoad Warehouse Management System and also use the traffic system to control other aspects of their business.
